An allergy stops a script

What it does

The Allergy Gate is Diagnify's automated safety check for prescribing. Whenever a prescription is drafted, whether manually or via Agent D, the system checks the medication against the patient's documented allergies and adverse reactions. If a clash is detected, the Confirm button is hard-locked.

Also on this screen

  • Allergy block on a script card (AD-054-sc): The go button stays off until you record an override and a reason.
  • Allergy stop (C258-sc): A clashing medicine stays blocked until you type a reason.
  • Allergy warning on a script (C234-sc): A banner if the script clashes with an allergy.
  • Allergies not checked (C235-sc): A banner when the allergy list could not be read.

When to use it

What Agent D can do

Agent D flags potential drug-allergy interactions and cross-sensitivities. It cannot bypass the allergy block or prescribe without a documented clinical reason.

Safety (what needs your Confirm)

You cannot issue a clashing prescription without actively entering a clinical justification and confirming the override. If allergies cannot be retrieved, a warning banner alerts you to verify manually.

Common questions

What happens if the patient has a documented penicillin allergy?

The system flags any penicillin or related beta-lactam antibiotic, displays a red warning banner, and locks the Confirm button.

How do I proceed if the clinical benefit outweighs the risk?

You must enter an explicit clinical override reason in the provided field, which logs into the audit trail before enabling Confirm.

What if the allergy status shows Allergies not checked?

You must manually verify the patient's allergy status with the patient or their paper records before prescribing.
